There’s another way to look at the riots; that it’s also about the Corona Plague. Think of it also as America’s own St. Vitus’ Dance.
In the Dark Ages in the times of the Plague – the Black Death – there were eruptions of mass psychosis – known as St. Vitus’ Dance.
Looting and pillaging in our “modern technical” world where we believe there ought to be a cure for everything ? Well, it shows we are not immune to mass hysteria; and we are just as likely as lemmings to walk over the precipice.
And what do we find? No herd immunity to our Great Pandemic, but lots of herd self-inflicted harm.
Our own mass hysteria is even worse than in the Dark Ages! Americans – whipped into an ‘us vs. them’ frenzy for years in good times; now in Plague Times erupt into self-flagellation in the form of self-destructive behavior.
But this mass hysteria nonetheless is modern in one sense: self-justification excuses dance off our lips! The madness of crowds – excuses excuses for everything.
What wanna-be leaders should not do is finding excuses for the madness of crowds and paying for looters’ bail. What our leaders should do is organize us, the citizenry not infected with St. Vitus Dance, to go and clean up and help restore the destruction of our fellow innocents’ lives.
