Once upon a time, there was a problem. And all the “Wise Men” who called themselves “Politicians” talked around and about it, but as usual could not identify it; much less solve it. In this tale, “FENCE” is the ELEPHANT that all these BLIND POLITICIANS touch, but can’t wrap their heads around !
Yes, Mexico has terrible problems. Yes, Central America has terrible problems. They are open for all the world to see and we shake our heads in sorrow.
And yes, only Mexico can deal with Mexico’s problems. Ditto for Central American countries. But for decades these countries have honestly failed and refused to deal with their problems – other than through a “Free Trade” with the U.S. – allowing their problems to be exported away to the U.S.
And so for the Blind Politicians in this country, “fence” has become the Rorschach test they visit on the American people: not for the purpose of knowing about the problem, but for the purpose of getting themselves re-elected.
REFLECTIONS ON A “FENCE”
The politicians of the left spout: “OH, NO FENCE AGAINST GOLD; OR NO FENCE AGAINST ILL FORTUNE.” So let’s let everyone in – and earn their votes.
The politicians of the right spout: “THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE.” So, let’s not let anyone in – and keep our grass to ourselves.
Mexicans, of course instruct: “DO NOT PROTECT YOURSELF WITH FENCES, BUT WITH FRIENDS”, to smooth the way.
Moral leaders whine: “bridges; not fences.”
And, our American President, who seems to prefer everyone elses culture to our own forgets: “DO NOT MEND YOUR NEIGHBOR’S FENCE, BEFORE SEEING TO YOUR OWN”. (Tanzania)
But while the American people are treated like the deaf and dumb elephant in the room; we know that”Chartiy begins at home.”
The American peole know: FENCES MAKE GOOD NEIGHBORS.
The American people know: “LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF – BUT DON’T TAKE DOWN YOUR FENCE”
The American people have always trusted themselves to also know: THE FENCE THAT MAKES GOOD NEIGHBORS NEEDS A GATE TO MAKE GOOD FRIENDS”
